More than 200 people keep our remote corner of the world running like a self-operated village. From the boats, restaurants, accommodations and resort you experience to the water, power, maintenance and even boat fabrication behind the scenes, it all happens right here. One team, with one purpose: making somewhere extraordinarily remote feel remarkably effortless.
Since 1963, extraordinary fishing and extraordinary hospitality have gone hand in hand at Tropic Star. Through generations of guests, countless adventures and more than six decades in Piñas Bay, personal service has remained at the heart of our story.
At the edge of Darién National Park, dense rainforest tumbles toward the Pacific in one of Panama’s most extraordinary corners. Accessible only by boat or plane, Piñas Bay feels wonderfully removed from the outside world, yet lies just a 55-minute private charter from Panama City, coordinated seamlessly by our team.
Our fleet of 22 sportfishing boats is matched by generations of knowledge earned on these waters. Our captains were born and raised here across generations, spending years as trainees and mates before earning their place at the helm and carrying that knowledge forward.
Black Marlin, Blue Marlin and Inshore each define a season at Tropic Star, but no season is limited to a single pursuit. From Billfish, Yellowfin Tuna and Dorado offshore to Roosterfish, Cubera Snapper and more than 18 inshore species, Piñas Bay offers an extraordinary variety of ways to fish.
Life at Tropic Star is effortlessly relaxed, with gourmet dining, a full-service spa, jungle pool, gym, games room and adventures beyond the lodge all within reach. Everything you want from an exceptional resort, delivered with the warmth and ease of home, where bare feet and fishing stories are always welcome.
